[WEEK 1: FRIDAY EVENING, AROUND ROOM 112; DAVE]
[WELL THAT SUCKED. we're down a roommate and a doorknob, and someone wound up dying in this place after all. Kaito's probably hanging around Room 112 sometime in the evening before curfew, just kind of. piddling about, trying to see if there are any more clues he can find]
Why would he just. . . get up a leave the room? If that's what happened?
Why would he just. . . get up a leave the room? If that's what happened?
no subject
[ a shrug. ]
Wouldn't you have gone to check what the fuck was goin' on, too, if you had?
no subject
Yeah, probably. I would've tried waking you guys up first.
[but??]
Then again, maybe he did. S'not like that sleep was normal.
no subject
[ because like. DAVE WOULD DO THAT? he can see himself doing that. ]
There's no way to tell just yet if he left willingly or not. But...if it were unwillin', there'd maybe be more of a mess than a pillow. Unless he had some voodoo put on him or something?
no subject
Maybe? S'not like voodoo magic leaves behind evidence for us to be completely certain.
[rubs his head with a frustrated sigh]
I sure hope we get more answers at this stupid trial we're supposed to hold tomorrow.
no subject
no subject
I don't think so. I didn't get a good look at it, but it seemed normal.
no subject
no subject
[it's something he thought of too, no lie]
I didn't get a chance to examine the body, nor did I have the opportunity to look around their room. We'll have to ask 'em what they found at the trial tomorrow.
no subject
[ THANKS GUYS ]
I'm pretty sure anything that was in there would be stolen and taken to trial regardless of what they want. But my best guess is someone in that room did the thing, unless there's a way to get through locked doors we don't know about.
no subject
And if there was a way to get through locked doors we didn't know about, then we would've have had scratches on ours.
[so. yeah]
no subject
[ or whatever he is just like "Well obviously kaito didn't so" ]
no subject
If we start tomorrow's trial off by laying down the timeline for everyone else, then I think we'll have a springboard for reaching the truth.
[a beat]
[MAKES A FACE]
I sound like a stupid detective, geez.
no subject
no subject
[CLOSES IT]
[you know what. . . he's just. . . okay]
Let's just say I have frequent run ins with some really obnoxious ones back home all the time.
[that's like. the closest to an affirmation anyone here has gotten, good job Dave]
I don't wanna be a rebel cop. Rebel cops are dumb too. I wanna be a vigilante.
no subject
[ okay dave. ]
We can just aim to not be super obnoxious.
no subject
"Vigilante" sounds like something Jason would appreciate more, anyway.
[considering. mask. costume. alter ego. you know]
no subject
no subject
Kind of lucky, if you think about it. S'better than rooming with someone willing and raring to kill.
no subject
no subject
S'like they're just. . . I dunno. Accepting our dumb situation, y'know? Without trying to fight back against it.
no subject
no subject
. . . I can't make myself okay with the idea of even forty-one survivors.
[but. it looks like they kind of. . . have to]
no subject
[ it's a quiet admission. ]
Looks like we're not gonna have that talk with Jay about our roles or anythin', though.
no subject
[it's not something one ever gets used to. it's just something they try to cope with]
. . . we briefly touched onthe subject before he died. But whatever his role was, it isn't about to help us now.
no subject
[ so that's Brilliant. ]
I guess we might not find out what the fuck he had, anyway. It doesn't even matter - I'd rather he just not be...you know. It's not like a kiss will bring him back, or anythin' else.
no subject
. . . is that how people were brought back from the dead where you come from? You 'n Jason both mentioned. . . that.
[being. a thing]
no subject
[ there's no point in keeping it Secret, so: ]
I've died a lot, but I remember two times, because the other times were...things I got to witness instead of experience. Once I got shot, and a friend kissed me. Back home, that sends you to another you in certain circumstances. The body you use when you're dreamin', only it becomes your real body. The second time I got blown the fuck up with my sister, and we just happened to die in a way that met a different set of circumstances that allowed a revive, because we were standin' on specific stone slabs.
[ but. like. ]
If I die here, that's it, though.
no subject
Where I come from, nobody ever comes back from the dead. Nobody.
[there's an odd. . . sharpness in his tone, that he can't quite hide. death is final. you kill someone, their blood is on your hands. forever]
. . . based on what Jason was saying and his appearance, I kinda thought that he. I dunno. Maybe died once before coming here, too.
no subject
[ a gesture. ]
All our guardians died and stayed dead, though. But yeah - I think Jay might've been...through some of the same shit?
no subject
Yeah. . . s'not like anyone deserves to die, but. Y'know. . . he really didn't deserve it.
[let Jason Todd live??]
no subject
no subject
[even if the darkest parts of him would wish death on the men who murdered his father, he decided a long time ago not to let those dark parts win. he's going to be better than them. he's going to refuse to stoop to their level]
This is just all so stupid.
no subject
[ it's quiet, but. ]
None of it's okay, but I guess...freakin' out does no good. We have to actually do shit.
no subject
I've known that from the beginning, but I still reserve the right to grumble about how much it sucks.
[just because being bratty helps him feel better sometimes]
no subject
[ like. A LOT. ]
I complained sometimes back in the game - sburb, it was a thing - when I had to like. Well. Do things that were...yeah.
no subject
Coping mechanisms, right?
[he pauses]
What's sburb? And what kinda. . . stuff. . . did you have to do?
no subject
[ he waves it away. ]
I was - am - the time player. So. I ran a bunch of stable timeloops and some unstable ones. We fought a lot of enemies. Killed some. Died a bunch. There were...always things that needed doin', I guess.
[ a pause. ]
I realize it mostly sounds insane, but yeah.
no subject
"Insane" sounds like an understatement.
[BUT YOU KNOW WHAT??]
I think I'm at the point of believing it despite how crazy it sounds, though.
no subject
no subject
[a wave of his hand]
If you wanna tell me something, you will. That's how it works.
no subject
[ dave is like willing to spill about his weird life it's just the #child abuse he won't get into. so. ]
I think it's pretty important to...stick together? I dunno. People are gonna splinter, because people do that.
